The journey to your best self BEGINS WITH stepping into you
Hello and congratulations on reaching the second step in taking care of you!
Pema Chodron said it so eloquently "Nothing ever goes away until it teaches us what we need to know". Taking the time out to really explore versus be controlled by the difficult experiences in life helps gain the peace we all want within. As a therapist I am passionate about helping those who are ready to take an active role in their healing and growth.
My name is Onessa and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over fourteen years of experience as a therapist, an educator and advocate. My clinical experience has lead me to have the honour to provide psychotherapy in both the United States and Canada. My goal is to help people gain insight, encourage change, create new connections and heal. I have an eclectic style in my approach to therapy and I promise to walk beside you and support you while you take on this journey.
My educational background includes a Bachelor’s and Master’s of Social Work, Bachelor’s of Psychology, Play Therapy (PTI) and a Certificate in Trauma and Addictions Recovery. I have a wide range of professional experience working with those who struggle with various mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, sexual violence, trauma, abuse, coping with life stressors, grief, loss, relationship issues and much more.
I have worked with individuals, families, and couples alike, both professionally and voluntarily, all while providing a wide variety of treatment modalities. Therapeutic techniques I provide and not limited to are: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Art Therapy, Faith-based Spirituality, Motivational Interviewing, the Gottman Level I Method trained and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) trained. All of the mentioned techniques are directed by the needs and goals established by you.
Take a step, jump and dive right into your journey of self-discovery and self-healing. I am looking forward to being a part of your journey to wellness.
One last thing, if you were wondering what the first step was. Well, it was your decision to face your concerns and ask for help. Keep it up, you got this!
